BRICS to Make Major Announcement in 2025: Expansion on the Horizon?

However, with the next summit scheduled for October 2025 in Russia, the BRICS bloc has made a major announcement on the future expansion of the alliance. Indeed BRICS held a summit in Kazan, Russia in October 2025, where 13 new “partner nations” were accepted. At this historic meeting, China’s President Xi Jinping referred to the growing influence of the alliance. Russian President Vladimir Putin will host the 2025 Brics summit.
Late last year, India’s officials disclosed the bloc’s agreement on the principles of expansion. This foundational agreement sets the stage for significant developments at the upcoming summit.
Saudi Arabia has joined Brics, the alliance of major developing countries, along with four other nations, signaling the growing appeal and influence of the BRICS nations on the global stage. That being said, the BRICS alliance is likely to invite 5-8 nations to join the collective at the 2025 summit, further solidifying its position as a major economic and political force.
