China Supports BRICS Expansion, Welcomes Like-Minded Countries
China is a strong proponent of BRICS expansion, viewing the bloc as an open and inclusive platform for global cooperation. Beijing actively supports welcoming more like-minded countries, particularly from the Global South, to join the BRICS family.
As Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign, stated on 13 de Sept. de 2025, China welcomes more like-minded partners to the BRICS association. China considers BRICS as an open and inclusive mechanism, and supports its expansion, willing to attract more like-minded partners to become part of the association. This commitment reflects China's dedication to fostering multilateralism and shared development.
China supports BRICS in opening their doors for development and embracing cooperation with open arms, and welcomes more like-minded partners to join. As highlighted in Beijing on Oct. 28, China welcomes more like-minded partners, including Indonesia, to join BRICS, which is an open and inclusive mechanism, according to the foreign ministry.
The expansion of BRICS is seen as a way to strengthen South-South cooperation and promote a more balanced global order. China has demonstrated this commitment by supporting various nations seeking membership. For example, China has supported Malaysia's application to join Brics, saying it would welcome like-minded partners to the bloc. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Thursday that China backs moves to expand the five-member grouping with like-minded nations.
China believes that a larger BRICS, with a diverse range of like-minded countries, will be better equipped to address global challenges and contribute to a more prosperous and equitable world for all.
