Elizabeth Warren's Crypto-Terrorism Bill Gains US House Support
US Senator Elizabeth Warren has seen her crypto-terrorism bill receive US House support today in a display of her growing perspective on Capitol Hill. This marks a significant step forward in her efforts to regulate the cryptocurrency space and address concerns about its potential misuse.
On 18 de sept. de 2025, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has enlisted more support from key lawmakers in a growing coalition pushing for a law to crack down on money-laundering and the illicit financing facilitated by digital assets.
Indeed, Congressman Sean Casten is one such lawmaker throwing his weight behind the effort. Casten did not specify which bill, but Sen. Warren reintroduced a bill in July that would crack down on the use of crypto for money laundering and sanctions evasion.
Senator Warren addressed the need for new laws to crack down on crypto’s use in enabling “terrorist groups, rogue nations, drug lords, ransomware gangs, and fraudsters. She argues that existing regulations are insufficient to combat the increasing sophistication of these actors.
In May 2025, at a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Warren questioned senior intelligence officials about crypto’s threats to national security, highlighting the urgency of legislative action to protect American interests.
This growing bipartisan support in the House signals increased momentum for the bill and suggests a greater likelihood of passage in the near future.
