Nomad Recovers $9 Million in Ethereum, Tether, and USD Coin from Hackers
Following the devastating security exploit that resulted in a staggering $190.38 million loss, there\'s finally some good news for Nomad. Hackers have begun returning a portion of the stolen funds, with $9 million in Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC) now recovered. This represents approximately 4.75% of the total funds drained, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the crisis.
Data from Etherscan shows almost $9 million in crypto tokens taken during the hack have been returned. The crypto tokens returned so far include $3.75 million in USD Coin (USDC). This significant recovery is a positive sign after the attack, which exploited a "chaotic" security flaw. Blockchain firm PeckShield has been instrumental in tracking the movement of the stolen funds.
Hackers sent back $9 million (roughly Rs. 71 crore) to Nomad a day after the cross-chain bridge was exploited for around $190 million (roughly Rs. 1,509 crore). Nomad published a wallet address on Wednesday for the return of stolen funds. Multiple addresses returned the $9 million that was stolen.
While the recovery is encouraging, an investigation by PeckShield has shown that a majority of the stolen monies are still held in three primary wallets. Hackers returned $9 million to Nomad after attackers abused a “chaotic” security exploit to steal $190.38 million. The community remains vigilant, monitoring blockchain transactions and working towards further recovery.
The recovered funds offer a small degree of solace to the victims of the Nomad hack. The company is actively working with law enforcement and blockchain security experts to trace the remaining funds and prevent future attacks. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation. On Aug. 5, 16,892 Ether (ETH) was bought using stolen cryptocurrency funds linked to a hack on crypto bridge Nomad from August 2025. This comes as Ether lost over 20% of its value.
